I decided to end the next section near Nuffield because there appeared to be a bus service operating to Wallingford and another from Wallingford to Streatley. I parked the car near a disused pub and walked to the bus stop. I tried thumbing but no one stopped before the bus arrived on time. In Wallingford I checked the timetable but the next bus was not for nearly 2 hours so I decided to try thumbing to Streatley. I had walked a couple of miles before a couple stopped and gave me a lift exactly to the pub. I thanked them and set off on day 5.
It was another nice sunny day: one advantage of walking day by day is that you can choose the weather. I walked up alongside the Thames before the Ridgeway turned away. It was on this stretch that I saw my first bluebells.
